Race Report: 2003 R.O.A.R. On-Road Nationals held at Twin City Hobbies in Brooklyn Park, MN. How'd the week go? Chalk up another R.O.A.R. National title for Team SpeedMerchant! Piloting his Rev.3 like a fighter jet, Alex Lopez Top Qualified and Won his first National Championship! Lets hear what Alex has to say about the weekend: 'My Rev.3 was just awesome. As the traction went up, my car just got better and better.' 'I barely turned a wrench on it all weekend. I wish all my cars went this well.' 'I was able to run a smooth fast line when a lot of the competitors' cars were getting really hard to drive due to the insane traction.' Joining Alex in the A-Main was Mo Denton(3rd), Paul Ciccarello(7th) and James Arnold(10th). Great job by all of you in one of the toughest stock classes in recent years. Alex won with the same car you can buy at your local hobby shop. No special tricks here. Just a solid racing platform. Congratulations Alex, you and your Dad did a great job. With Alex's win, SpeedMerchant now has 17 National titles, and has won 8 out of the last 9 R.O.A.R Carpet On-Road National Championships! A record that our competitors just can't touch. In 12th Scale Modified, Eric Desrosiers had a great weekend with a 4th place A-Main finish in a truly world class field. Eric just missed a podium spot due to some slow and un-yielding traffic in the 3rd A-Main. Great job Eric. Joining Eric in the Modified A-main was our newest Mod driver, Mark Adams. Mark moved up from Stock to Mod this year after winning the U.S. Triple Crown last year. Very few drivers make the Modified A-main in their 1st year after moving up from stock class. Excellent preparation of his Rev.3, and top notch driving put Mark in the top ten. In Masters class Mark Sweeny and Rick Worth both had great outings with A-Main finishes. This was Mark's 1st A-Main finish at a ROAR Nationals and Rick was backing up last years A-Main run. Super job guys. |
